April 2011 Report
President's Report - ARTHUR GREEN
Our first show for 2011 was held in Marlboro on the 13th of February, as usual this venue
continues to be a very popular event.
THANKS AGAIN To the Cain family for facilitating another nice event for the members and
general public attending this show.
As some of you may already know, our Marlboro show coordinator and long time dedicated
supporter Bill Cain passed away on Sunday April 3rd 2011. His presence will be greatly missed
by his many NCCA friends and family.
Linda & Lynn Cain will continue to coordinate the Marlboro shows going forward. Linda reminds
us to book early for the next Marlboro show scheduled for August 7th. 2011. Don’t assume you
have a table, call Linda (978) 544-5348 or email lndcain1@aol.com to reserve tables.
A regular Board Meeting was held after the show. In addition to the Treasurers and Clerks
report, several issues were discussed and voted upon. The Board voted to not have a show
in New Hampshire in 2011 as previously reported. The reason being that the cost would have
been about three times the current rate that we pay for our Marlboro show. The big cost items,
in addition to the hall rental, were table and chair rental, liability insurance, and town permit.
Thanks to Evan Nappen for all of his efforts. (Hopefully we can find a less expensive location in
the future.) The Board voted to have another Marlboro Show to replace the New Hampshire
date of August 7th. Display award knives for the Annual Show, were approved to be purchased
from Great Eastern Cutlery Company, as was the case last year. Also approved was a change
in the Annual Raffle ticket price, next year tickets will be as single tickets in increments of $5.00
each ticket. This will save the club in ticket printing and mailing costs. Lastly, Larry Clifford gave
his report on the Annual Show, SHOW IS SOLD OUT! A waiting list has been started.
Our next show which is our annual two day show will be held in Mystic, CT on April 30th – May 1st. Come join us for this annual event featuring all things that go cut, excellent educational displays, our annual custom knife raffle and the opportunity to share your interests with fellow collectors and makers. Make your reservations early for this popular show and location so as not to be disappointed. See Annual show page and calendar page for more information.
Until October, Art
